Biography

Dr. Ariel Castro is Assistant Adjunct Professor of Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.   He received a Fellowship from the National Research Council of Argentina (CONICET), and obtained his PhD degree in Cell Biology from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Castro did his postdoctoral work at the Walther Oncology Center at the Indiana University School of Medicine and at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.    

Dr. Castro is currently involved in research that focuses on mechanisms that control cell growth and proliferation.     Through his research, he aims to define how mTOR activity is regulated, with the final goal of identifying new targets for therapy.   Dr. Castro also supervises and trains in his lab
