Rebecca Plevin, M.D. received her undergraduate degree from University of California Berkeley, with a major in molecular & cellular biology and a minor in toxicology. She received her M.D. from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in 2009. She completed her residency in General Surgery at the University of Washington in 2016. While at the University of Washington in 2012-2014, Dr. Plevin completed two years of research investigating the immunologic response to trauma, funded by a NIH Trauma Training Grant. 

Dr. Plevin completed her fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, University of California San Francisco from 2016-2018. In 2018, she accepted a position at University of California San Francisco as an Assistant Professor in Residence in the Division of General Surgery. Her clinical  practice includes Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery, and elective General Surgery. Her research interests include injury prevention with particular focus on underserved/vulnerable populations.

Dr. Plevin is the Director of the San Francisco Wraparound Project, the hospital-based violence intervention program at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center. She is also a member of the San Francisco Vision Zero Injury Prevention Research (VZIPR) Collaborative, a group comprised of trauma surgeons, epidemiologists, geospatial analysts, and other key staff who conduct research using traffic-related injury data in support of Vision Zero SF– San Francisco's policy and commitment to eliminate traffic deaths on city streets.
