Ryan Macht M.D., M.S. completed his General Surgery residency at Boston Medical Center in 2018. During this time, he obtained a Masters Degree in Health Services Research from the Boston University School of Public Health and completed a 2 year research fellowship focusing on quality improvement and patient safety. Following this, he completed his fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at UCSF. He is interested in the management of obesity and metabolic disease, including pharmacologic, endoscopic and surgical treatments. His research is focused on quality improvement, patient safety, and improving outcomes in bariatric and foregut surgery. He will be providing care for general and minimally invasive surgery patients at Sequoia Hospital.

  • Ryan Macht's research has been focused on quality improvement and outcomes in surgical patients. He has a special interest in prevention of postoperative venous thromboembolism events and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols. Additionally, he has studied risk factors for unplanned hospital visits following bariatric surgery. He is interested in further research on identifying barriers to obesity treatment and improving access to bariatric surgery.
